Life happens...

Still here...apologies for being MIA. Got a dose of the recession and lost my job recently so have been trying to get some things in order and unfortunately, NYCLookout got neglected...

With money being tight, freebies and the like are a necessity rather than a choice!

So with that being said, some notable events coming up:
In the spirit of NYC Fashion Week 2008...
Fashion's Night Out September 10, 2009

Vogue has joined forces with NYC & Company, and the Council of Fashion Designers of America to undertake Fashion's Night Out, kicking off Fashion Week in NYC. An event to revitalize the consumer spirit, invigorate the economy and to support the NYC AIDS Fund. Bring new and/or gently used clothing to be donated in this citywide clothing drive. Doing good, celeb and model sitings, freebies, discounts are the incentives. Check out to see participating stores (there are over 700!)

Fashion Week Opening Party at Kiss & Fly

Your affordable alternative to kick off NYC Fashion Week 2009. Event is hosted by Overtime Group and Depesha Magazine featuring a performance by First Movement, music by DJ Sasha Alexander, 1 hour open bar from 8-9, a Reiss gift bag (while supplies last) and NY Fashion Week Shows Raffle. Tickets are $20.

New York Couture

Good ol Webster Hall is keeping it classy with the New York Couture Fashion Show and Afterparty. Hosted by Contessa Stuto and Frenchy from VH1's Rock of Love, performance by Ultraviolet Sound, gift bags to first 100 guest, swith an open bar from 9-10. Fashion show at 11pm. Admission is FREE so long as you bring the flyer featured above or get your name on the guestlist.

The non-fashion related events...
20 at 20

When did off and off off Broadway shows get so expensive that "20 at 20" needed to be created??? Ah well, some great shows for a nice price tag. Go to the box office of show participating in " 20 at 20" 20 minutes before the show starts to get your $20 tickets.. It kicked off yesterday and will continue through 9/20.

The 2009 Brooklyn Book Festival

Keep it literary at the FREE public event at Brooklyn Borough Hall featuring emerging authors through themed readings and panel discussions.
