Kickin your Wednesday up a notch

Wanted to an invite to “Homecoming,” a young professionals event to benefit The TEAK Fellowship at Katra Lounge on September 30, 2009 from 7-10PM. The TEAK Fellowship “helps NYC students from low-income families gain admission to and succeed at top high schools and colleges. Along with academic support, TEAK provides leadership training, exposure to the arts and outdoors, mentoring, career experience, and assistance with the high school and college application processes.”

It is an organization that I’ve had the privilege to be a part of and an event I am proud to promote.

HBO Screening of Bored to Death

Bored To Death is a noir-otic comedy starring Jason Schwartzman about Jonathan Ames, a writer who attempts to moonlight as a private detective by emulating heroes from mystery novels. To celebrate the series premieres September 20, 9:30pm on HBO, the network is hosting an exclusive screening September 16 at Berry Park from 8-11pm with comp food and beverage. The Fringe Encore Series

If you missed The New York International Fringe Festival in August, you're in luck. Enter The Fringe Encore Series, showcasing the festival favorites. From what I see, tickets run about $15-$18. YES. Why should you go? The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC) is the largest multi-arts festival in North America, with more than 200 companies from all over the world performing for 16 days in more than 20 venues – that's a total of more than 1300 performances! Life happens...

Still here...apologies for being MIA. Got a dose of the recession and lost my job recently so have been trying to get some things in order and unfortunately, NYCLookout got neglected...

Fashion's Night Out September 10, 2009

Vogue has joined forces with NYC & Company, and the Council of Fashion Designers of America to undertake Fashion's Night Out, kicking off Fashion Week in NYC. An event to revitalize the consumer spirit, invigorate the economy and to support the NYC AIDS Fund. Bring new and/or gently used clothing to be donated in this citywide clothing drive. Doing good, celeb and model sitings, freebies, discounts are the incentives. Check out to see participating stores (there are over 700!)

Fashion Week Opening Party at Kiss & Fly

Your affordable alternative to kick off NYC Fashion Week 2009. Event is hosted by Overtime Group and Depesha Magazine featuring a performance by First Movement, music by DJ Sasha Alexander, 1 hour open bar from 8-9, a Reiss gift bag (while supplies last) and NY Fashion Week Shows Raffle. Tickets are $20.

New York Couture

Good ol Webster Hall is keeping it classy with the New York Couture Fashion Show and Afterparty. Hosted by Contessa Stuto and Frenchy from VH1's Rock of Love, performance by Ultraviolet Sound, gift bags to first 100 guest, swith an open bar from 9-10. Fashion show at 11pm. When did off and off off Broadway shows get so expensive that "20 at 20" needed to be created??? Ah well, some great shows for a nice price tag. Go to the box office of show participating in " 20 at 20" 20 minutes before the show starts to get your $20 tickets.. It kicked off yesterday and will continue through 9/20.
